Stoudemire was the first to change the worst and most dismal basketball culture in the history of the place.
Stoudemire was the one who came here and said all the right things and played his ass off and began to remove the stink of the Isiah Thomas era from the Garden.
The Knicks became Lin’s team and then they were turned over to Anthony, lock and stock and barrel. Not only wasn’t Stoudemire The Man anymore, he was just another guy in the chorus. So whatever he says about what brought him to his bonehead moment in Miami on Monday night, the anger and the frustration have to have been building in Stoudemire for a long time.
Doesn’t excuse what he did, doesn’t undo the damage, doesn’t change the facts of his situation, or the Knicks’ situation. But don’t you think there is at least a part of Stoudemire wondering how Game 2 goes, if the Knicks have a better chance, if Anthony shoots less on Monday night and Stoudemire is allowed to shoot a little more?
